For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth. - Job 19: 25
I believe that one’s image of Christ is a very personal thing, and I take a great deal of personal responsibility in painting the Savior — my Savior. I wanted to convey in this painting both His strength and His sensitivity. To go through everything that He did for us and yet He was sensitive and caring enough to recognize and heal so much pain and hurt. I wanted to capture the gentleness in his eyes, the strength in his chin, a determination and willingness to be strong – for us. The red in his robe is symbolic of His sacrifice and regal divinity. I wanted to paint this picture without a background – with nothing to distract from His features and His countenance.
