Learning in the Light of Faith

The Lord's injunction to “seek. . . out of the best books words of wisdom; to seek learning, even by study and also by faith” (D&C 88:118) teaches that acquiring education is an important part of God's eternal plan. But what kind of education is an important part of God's eternal plan. But what kind of education should be sought? Should learning be limited to spiritual subjects or expanded to embrace secular study? Are scholarship and discipleship compatible? Learning in the Light of Faith brings together six outstanding lectures that address these and other important questions and that offer insight into finding balance in the pursuit of knowledge. The lectures suggest that an understanding of secular things is desirable as long as it is tempered by attributed of meekness, humility, and consecration.
